Spine Mesh Stops Deforming After Reset? Identify the Button Context

Reset can affect more than the visible pose. Identify the panel and compare weights and deform keys with a preserved project.

A mesh looks tidier after Reset, but it no longer bends as before. Stop repeating the operation and identify its panel and project revision. A reset label does not necessarily mean undo or a display-only change.

Two buttons affect different mesh data

The official Spine Mesh guide distinguishes Reset in attachment properties from Reset in edit mode. The former moves vertices to match UVs and removes mesh weights and animation deform keys. The latter replaces the mesh with four corner vertices and also removes weights and deform keys.

Check the actual editor version. These specific external Spine operations do not define every application's reset, or Tooliva's image-adjustment controls.

Preserve evidence before another save

  1. Record the project revision, part, mesh and panel used.
  2. Keep the current state and a known earlier project without overwriting the only backup.
  3. Compare vertices, weights and affected deform keys with the project owner.
  4. Use the same animation and observation time to identify which data changed.

Without an earlier project, mark the previous state unknown. A picture cannot establish its original weights, and importing a PNG is not proof that animation keys have returned.

Texture recovery is not deformation recovery

A PNG supplies pixels, not a complete copy of project weights and keys. If those data were removed, restore the appropriate project state from an available valid revision, then check related resources. Do not reset the entire library to repair one action.

If linked meshes are involved, identify shared structure first. The same-size image and shared-mesh checklist helps define the affected appearances. One working variant is insufficient to accept every linked variant.

Review the required movements

Inspect bends, stretches and joins through the required actions and skins. Keep actual before-and-after observations. If no receiving-engine test has run, mark it pending rather than inventing a recovery percentage.

If weights and keys did not change, investigate the loaded batch, animation and control flow. Reset is not the universal explanation for missing deformation.

Keep assets and the editable project distinct

Retain the resources and export batch from Spine Workbench using its guide. Image calibration or regeneration does not back up an external project's weights and keys.

No reset experiment or binary-patching script is supplied. Identify the missing data before choosing a verifiable recovery with a retained baseline.
